I can list the various domestic and international achievements over the last five decades and in doing so, deftly justify the debit side. But fortunately I am not a politician. I am merely a concerned citizen and as such, I must examine the current state of affairs prevailing around me. As a citizen, I can only objectively view those aspects that affect my daily existence. Unfortunately, the predominant feeling in the daily viewing department is not one of elation.

As the golden year draws to a close, I see a nation with an amorphous mass of resident fat cats biding their time, looking for an excuse to party.

I see a cynical nation complaining about leadership but refusing to look at the state of their own homes and streets.

I see those that have the means to change the system but have grown lazy and corrupt and like a pack of mangy hyenas, snap at each other and impatiently wait for an easy handout.
