to deconstruct and simplify
these spaces so that there is a
visual narrative.
3. What are
some of the challenges you face
while taking pictures?
Firstly, you must have the
ability to recognize that there
is a potential visual out there.
I’m now going to to indulge in
metaphysics… the fact is that
there is an essence that exists
in everything. Once I’ve
recognized this essence, I then
try and solve any problem that
may prevent me from capturing
this almost abstract quality.
Once this analysis is complete,
my reflexes and experience takes
over. Sometimes things happen
very quickly, and many times
there is frustration and
failure. But, figuratively
speaking, whenever the planets
do align properly, there is
nothing more satisfying then
knowing that you’ve captured
what you had ‘seen’.
4. What do
you want your photography to
convey? Is there a particular
style or technique your imagery
employs?
People who know my work have
told me that they do perceive my
touch. Frankly, I do not think
of it as a ‘style’ or a
‘signature’. I just try and
create something. However, I do
tend to put more of myself in
everything that I do, and if
that gets translated and
transferred to the viewer, then
that’s great!
